The burden of substance use is still great in Tanzania’s coastal towns and cities. Heroin is the leading type or drug that is widespread in such cities. Zanzibar being a major route for drug traffic, bears the consequences of spillover effects from these drugs. Owing to their vulnerabilities, the young people are the most affected populations, suffering from the myriad of health challenges due to the use of drugs.
